J. Pratt Austin-Trucks has joined LawyerUp, LLC, as Of Counsel. She has more than 23 years of legal experience, specializing in the family law, landline dispute, and probate/wills/estates arenas. She has practiced with her mother, Jacqueline Austin (the 2021 recipient of the Maud McLure Kelly Award from the Alabama State Bar), her entire legal career out of their office in Wetumpka, Alabama. She has been around the law her entire life as the daughter of two attorneys and has practiced in courts in 25 counties around Alabama. Her focus is on providing excellent service to her clients while being understanding and compassionate.
Pratt was raised in Wetumpka, where she is a member of the 8th generation of her family to call Elmore County home. She earned her B.A. in history and mass communications (print emphasis) from the University of West Georgia in 1992, where she was the editor-in-chief of the campus newspaper for two years, and her J.D. from The University of Alabama School of Law in 2002, where she was a member of the Bench and Bar Honor Society and a recipient of the Dean's Service Award.
Pratt is currently the Bar Commissioner for the 19th Judicial Circuit and also the president of the Elmore County Bar Association. She is a 2004 Leadership Elmore County graduate and was a founding board member of the Elmore County Family Resource Center. She is a member of the Alabama Lawyers Assistance Foundation board and the State Bar's Client Security Fund Committee. Pratt serves on the board of directors for the Community Action Partnership of Middle Alabama and Ivy's Closet. She is a sustainer of the Junior League of Montgomery and a member of the Order of Cimarron and Merrie Mimics. Pratt is a certified Guardian ad Litem and a registered mediator in the state of Alabama.
